This drawing is part of an artistic project entitled ” A drawing a day” that Emiliano Baiocchi started on the 25th of May of 2011 and for which he would produced an artwork everyday for an uninterrupted period of one year. Conducting such a visual diary has led to an immense variety of images which reflect both his moods and formal researches.
This image is an instance of what the artist calls “metaphysical” drawing, where organic shapes are shown in a twisted moment of metamorphosis while their black shadow always takes a movement of its own.
Reminding somehow of Matisse and his painting La danse, this playful scenery seems to take place in a peaceful space where the trees are being softly reflected onto the water from which emerge one or several creatures.

Emiliano Baiocchi is a Berlin based Italian artist who has been working for the last 10 years on developing an expressive visual language through mostly painting.
He uses his imagination only to design images that explore painting as a means of pure expression leading to a series of inner landscapes that show case a singular materiality of accumulated layers of acrylic paint.
In his dream like images, there is no pre defined intention to figurate a given narration, for he is rather interested in constructing a contrasted space where casualty and accidents are to be balanced with controlled detailed areas in order for a sense of spiritual movement to emerge.
